Coming this autumn, we are proud to announce a major update that will make The Lord of the Rings Online™ (LOTRO) free-to-play for everyone. LOTRO will be introducing a new pricing model which allows new players to download the game and play for free. Everyone will be able to purchase expansions, quest packs, items, and account services a la carte from the new LOTRO Store, or join our VIP program to get unlimited access to all of the game’s content for one low price.
The best part is – as existing subscribers you’re automatically enrolled in our VIP program! As a VIP you’ll continue to get unlimited access to the game and all of the content you already enjoy, in addition to some extra perks!
In addition to the new pricing model, the award winning story will be extended, a new region unveiled and much more!
LOTRO will offer players unlimited choice!
- Free means Free! – New players will be able to join with millions of other adventurers as they explore the most complete and authentic recreation of Middle-earth ever created and participate in LOTRO’s award-winning epic story up to level 50 completely free.
- new LOTRO Store introduced! – The LOTRO Store will be loaded with thousands of convenience items as well as expansion packs, premium content, additional character slots, potions, character customisation and more! The LOTRO Store will be seamlessly integrated into the game allowing you new and exciting ways to enhance and customise your experience using Points which can be purchased in the store or earned through gameplay.
- Be a LOTRO VIP! – Players who elect to become a LOTRO VIP will have unlimited access to all premium content, receive priority server access, 5 character slots as standard (excluding additional slots gained from Mines of Moria or the Adventurer's pack), a shared bank slot, and a monthly allotment of Points to spend in the new LOTRO Store. NB: All current lifetime subscription holders will automatically become VIPs under the new pricing model.

****Enedwaith*** Is Free-to-Play the only thing to look forward to for Volume 3, Book 2?
(Last updated: 04-06-2010 06:52:47)No! Volume 3, Book 2 will continue the Volume 3 Epic Story as the Rangers head south. An all new area, Enedwaith, will be available as well as some exciting new features and many updates to the game including DX11 support! We’ll have more information about Volume 3, Book 2 as we approach launch. Keep an eye out for Developer Diaries and other information throughout the summer

It is not a hidden fact that Lp and myself have never liked nor trusted the fluffy creatures of MiddleEarth. In a world where anything and everything wants to eat your brains out of your skull, its hard not to be on your guard when it comes to any creature in MiddleEarth. But i was starting to think that i was maybe being a little paranoid. And so i enlisted the help of my trusted dwarf friend Lpolp and embarked on a top secret fact finding mission to ascertain if in fact the fluffys were out to get us! These are our findings: 1. We have been persecuting foxes and bunnys needlessly. They have no agenda other than to live peacefully alongside us in harmony (never can be to careful - still killing them myself...). 2. However it has now be confirmed and proven that Squirrels, along with the aid scheming badgers have been planning a major attack on the Free Peoples of MiddleEarth!! They have slowly infiltrated every province of MiddleEarth, moving with impunity through our cities and towns. They have been openly spying on our movements and learn our weaknesses. They have been increasing their numbers enormously (bunnies taught them how) and are on the verge of executing their massive attack on the good peoples of MiddleEarth.  3. If that wasn't bad enough, we have discovered a plot, that these devious rodents are planning to infultrate and attack other servers and even other MMO's!!! LP managed to sneak Lpninja into one of their training camps and discovered that they are already planning for the release of the much awaited Star Wars Old Republic! Lp managed to take the following screenshot as proof...  4. Now this might come as a shock to all of you but... There are unconfirmed allegations from captured (and tortured) squirrel prisoners that our fearless leader Amo, long known tree-hugger and fluffy animal activist, might be in on it!!!! :-O Watch her carefully!!!!!!! There is no indication of these vermin being under the influence of the White Hand or Morder. We surmise that they are acting on their own behalf and are persuing their own agendas. So in closing, i urge... no beg all of you to hunt down and kill every one of this beady-eyed plague before its to late!!! And remember never ever let your guard down!!!!!! Not for a second!!!!! 1: If a change were made to Radiance, which of the following would you recommend? Choose only one.
1- Deed based, similar to Virtues/Traits.
2- Temporary Buff, similar to Hope Tokens
3- Remove it entirely.
4- A Stat, similar to DPS, on Legendary Items
5- A relic that can be added to a Legendary Item, similar to Runes, gems, etc.
6- Leave it alone, it's fine as it is.
2: If you could design an all new festival reward, what would it be?

Great party time was enjoyed by Defenders of the White Tree.. starting with a Inn League pub crawl, followed by a hilarious blindfold escort a lvl 7 to Annuminas... more drinking from kegs and a ettens run around! Happy Birthday Defenders! Share to
