We're really pleased to have you as a member (or considering applying for membership) and extend warm regards to all of our members regardless of how long you've been with us. Without the members this kin wouldn't be where we are now - one of the oldest, most successful kinships in the game. Thankyou! KinchatThe level of chatter and inane banter in kinchat often varies. Just in case you don't know, type /k then your message to talk to all kin members. We always advise our members to get stuck-in to kin chat, say hello when you log in to the game and goodbye when you leave - it helps build our community of friends. Even more than that - if you need advice, help or just have a really good joke to tell, kinchat is the place to do it. One of the reasons the volume of conversation will vary in kinchat is because we have a Ventrilo server. Ventrilo Voice ServerVentrilo is voice-chat software, but nothing like what you may have experienced in game. Vent is clear and crackle free! We make use of Vent extensively for raiding, grouping and PvP. You're always welcome on our vent server, if only to listen. Vent is probably the very best way to get to know your kin mates. To join us on a raid - such as The Rift - you'll need to be using Vent. Once you've used Vent you'll probably never go back and many of our members are always online in Vent when they're in-game. For more information on how to set up Vent have a look at this article. Help NightsUsually held once a week (although not every week), DoTWT hold a help night. Although we encourage all members to shout out in kinchat or vent if they need a hand, help nights are kept clear of raids. This allows the more experienced kin members to help other members with more difficult quests. As a kin, we won't power level someone straight to level 50 but we know there are some really challenging quests out there that can be difficult to get a group for. This is where help nights come in! If you're stuck, shout out in Kin Chat and someone should lend you a hand. It may be that everyone is already busy helping another member so you may not get the assistance straight away but we aim to help everyone who needs it with at least one difficult quest. Using Vent is really handy for these quests as it allows the helpers to give the 'helpees' more guidance. Conversely, if you want to help other members, drop a shout-out in Kin Chat! CraftingWithin the Kinship we have multiple Grand Master crafters in every profession. If you need a hand choosing some gear, or need something made up for you, please have a word with one of the GMs listed here. Depending on the details of what you need you may need to supply the raw materials or where it is a 'One Shot' recipe the recipe itself. All GM crafters listed will be happy to help you and offer advice if you need it. Class GuidanceThe Kin Officers in particular all have at least one extremely well-equipped maximum level character, most have two, some have three or four. If you need some help or advice with your character please ask in Kin Chat or drop a post on the forum. Social NightsAt least once a month, DoTWT hold a social night. In the past we've had quizzes, races, fancy dress and all sorts of hilarity ensued. It's a great way to get to know your fellow kin members by having some fun. Take a break from levelling and join us for some fun and games - have a look here for an example! Our Websitedotwt.org is the online home of Defenders of the White tree. On the site we have our forums, articles, screenshots and lots and lots of useful information. We also try to keep it up-to-date with LoTRO news and information, kin events will also be announced on the website. Importantly, the raid planner is on the website - in the events menu. The events system is where you can sign-up for our weekly Rift Raid and occasional Helegrod raids in addition to the social nights. You can also keep track of your mains and alts in your profile on the website, just have a look in the User Menu for 'Manage Profile.' MembersOur members make the kin what it is, all give their time to helping each other freely. If need a hand or help, please be polite and friendly and don't forget on the other end of the character is a real person. To this end we do have a few kin guidelines, they're not onerous, just common sense. We want everyone to get the very most out of being part of our Kinship and we're really proud to be Defenders of the White Tree - I hope you are too!
